Palisadian Adam Sandler Wears Paliskates Sweatshirt on ‘Jimmy Fallon’
Those who tuned into “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in December may have spied something local.
Longtime Palisadian Adam Sandler was recently on the show while sporting a Paliskates sweatshirt, which “instantly sold out” following the appearance.
“I am honored to say Adam Sandler has been a loyal customer of Paliskates since we opened back in 1999,” Paliskates Owner Erica Simpson shared with the Palisadian-Post. “And the fact that he has been supporting our small, female-founded business for more than two decades warms our hearts.”
Simpson shared that while she loves Sandler and his family, and that he brings his two daughters in, she didn’t know he would be wearing the hoodie on the show.
“We were blown away,” Simpson shared. “We immediately thanked him on all our social media channels, but unfortunately we don’t have his number to call him and thank him directly. Adam, if you’re reading this, thank you for the support. We love you and couldn’t do it without you.”
This is not the first national appearance of Paliskates clothing on Sandler: He wore one of the brand’s hoodies in the recent Netflix movie, “Hustle,” Simpson explained: “He has been an amazing supporter of Paliskates.”
GQ also took notice of the sweatshirt, adding it to its “Most Stylish Man of the Year” feature as well as an Instagram post on its @gqrecommends page. “From basic crewnecks to high-end designer hoodies,” the post accompanying a screenshot of Sandler in the sweatshirt read, “these are sweats that warrant pride of place in your rotation.”
Simpson shared that the reaction has been “incredible,” that the store saw an “immediate spike in sales online.”
“We received orders from across the country and as far away as the UK,” Simpson shared. “It quickly sold out, but we managed to restock with a local supplier, so you can still buy it at the shop or order it online at paliskates.net.”
Simpson shared that she has been “so humbled” by the experience. “For my small business to be recognized and supported by Adam Sandler on the national stage is beyond my wildest dreams,” she said.
Simpson also wanted to shout out Charlie Edmiston, who she explained is a member of the original skate team and a Palisades local, who “designed the sweatshirt way back when.”
“Charlie is amazing,” she shared, “he just finished an art show in NYC.”
Paliskates has a line of sweats in the shop, as well as a “huge collection” of skate- and surf-inspired clothing and merchandise. The store is also home to brands like Honor the Gift by Russell Westbrook, Polar Skate Co., Baker Skateboards and more.
She expressed how grateful she is to be a part of the community for “23 amazing years.”
“This is our home,” Simpson continued. “We love the people here, we love the neighborhood and we love Adam Sandler … We have seen and lived everything with local kids: We have seen them do everything from learning to skate, to buying their first surfboard or pair of Vans, to getting their first part-time job with us and discovering responsibility, all while having fun.”
Simpson shared that the shop will host events in the new year, involving collaborations with “icons in the skate and surf and arts community,” so “stay tuned for that.”
